Module 5 Logo Design

1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo.
When it came to creating a personal logo I started to think that was most important to me, or what was my personality like. I concluded that personally I am a very simple person. I knew I did not want to create a very detailed logo. I also decided that my family was most important to me.
2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas you used in the logo creation.
When I decided that I wanted a simple logo the first thing that came to mind was using my initials would work. Then to include the aspect of my family at first I decided to use a triangle, because I am a triplet and that is a huge part of who I am. However, when I tried designing my logo I couldn't get it the way I wanted it. It was simple and related to me, but I just didn't like it. I realized that I wanted my logo to be more fun and different, seeing as I am usually a happy and energetic person. So finally I decided to still use the K from my name but add the heartbeat and hearts instead of a triangle. I chose 6 beats one for each of my family, and I decided on the heartbeats because being a live is one of the things I am most grateful for. I than added pink just to add some color and brighten the whole thing.
3. What was the most important discovery you made in the creation of your logo?
The most important thing I discovered was how particular I am about certain things, and that it actually takes a lot of time and planning coming up with even the simplest logo.
4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos, power point, and reading material  for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
The most important thing I learned is that even the littlest detail probably has a very important meaning and purpose.

Module 4 Blog Questions

1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel.
When I was creating the value scale it was a little more different than I thought it was going to be. I either didn't make a part light or dark enough and would have to go back and change some things over and over. While making the color wheel it was a little more fun to create. Creating all the different shades didn't seem to be that hard.
2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why?
I like working with the paints more because if I was having trouble with the color it was easier to add more of another color than it was for me to continuously have to go back and fix things with the pencil.
3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies?
I think the most important thing i noticed while creating both the value scale and color wheel was that the smallest mistake could make a big difference.
4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
I think that one of the most important facts came out of the color video. When they were talking about red and blue being to dark to be considered primary and that the three colors making brown showed this imbalance.

Module 3 Blog Questions (Reposted)

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting.
Emotional responses to color are both culturally conditioned and intensely personal. Cool colors are generally have calming effects. Blue is also linked to feelings of sadness and freedom. While a color like red might be used to express anger or aggression.

2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?
I feel like the most intriguing theoretical aspect of color is color harmonies, because the use of different colors can completely change the feeling and outcome of a piece of art work.

3. In the Color video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions?
I feel like the biggest impact on me in regards to color how the littlest change in shade in a piece can change it as a whole entirely. I think that it is really interesting how the artist relies so much on color to express what they are trying to say through their art.

4. In the Feelings video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions?
I feel like my answer for questions 1&3 also goes along with question.

I could not figure out how to embed my pictures to my blog. It was a lot easier to create photos for some of these elements and principles than for others. Some of them took a lot more effect to think about and get a grasp on what the concept was. Other than that it was pretty fun taking all the different pictures.

Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Art Video Response

1. For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
One of the key concepts mentioned in the first video was that Aesthetics is the study of beauty and art. However, beauty and art are actually very different things. I also learned that the systematic study of art began during the 5th century in Athens.

2. Which philosopher's theory on aesthetics do you feel is most important? Be sure to mention the philosophers name, era (time in history), and contribution to the aesthetic theory in your response.

I feel like the most important philosopher's theory on aesthetics is Aristotle's. Who was around 5th century Athens.  Even though he was a student of Plato he completely disagreed with him as to how important aesthetics was. Through his book, The Poetics, he rebuttals Plato's critique of the arts, and also became one of the most influential books on art theory. It maintained that arousing strong emotions, such as pity and fear, was good for the citizenry of Athens. He stated that, "The chief forms of beauty are order and symmetry and definiteness, which the mathematical sciences demonstrate in a special degree." He inferred specific rules of composition, and was most famous for his creation of the "three unities." The unity of action, time, and place.
3. What do you think about Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art? What was the most interesting fact you discovered from each speakers lecture?

4. How do the videos and article relate to the readings in the text?

Like the reading the both the videos and article discuss the different aspects of art. They also all talked about what role aesthetics plays in art.

5. What is your opinion of the films and article? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics in your reading in the text?

I found both the films and article very informative and interesting. They both adequately explain their major concepts very well. Although both videos were rather long it did provide me with some interesting facts that I had not known before. Both the films and the article related to the reading very well. It when in depth on some points that were mentioned in the reading and provided more detail towards them.
