Module 7 (extension)

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Some of the key concepts discussed in the videos were architecture, design, a building can be a passive building or create an emotional response, and architecture has become a social art form. 

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? I don't think that the beginning of the reading discusses different types of building techniques that weren't spoken about in the video. There was also other things that were discussed in the book that was not mentioned in the videos. 

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture? I learned that architecture doesn't have to be talking about the actual building itself but it can be what makes the building as a whole. I also learned that it is constantly changing. I think that the film was very interesting and insightful. Although the first video was easier to understand more than the second video.

4. Why did you choose the films that you watched? I have always found interior design and architecture interesting, so i figured these would be the best videos to watch.

2. When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elements and principles in the images?      I think that he could have found a better picture for shape because it was very similar to the one he used for line. It is also hard to see actual movement in his chose for that as well. Other than that I the rest of his photos are very well done. 

3. When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own?     No, we didn't have any pictures in common. 

4. Where there any images that your Peers selected that pique your interest now? If yes, what are they and what is your connection with them? What would you want to know about them?                             No, none of them really interested me. 

5. What do you think about  the process of reading your peers reflection? Do you find this to be a valuable in your learning?                                        I think that he did a very good job explaining why he decided to pick the pieces he did. I liked the personal reasons he shared in his explanations. 

6. Check your Blog and read comments posted by your Peers. Do you find their comments helpful? There have been no comments from peers at this point. 

Module 5 ( Art Gallery Visit)

A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why?

1. Frank Stella, Lac Largonge III, 1969. Acrylic on Canvas. 

The use of such bold colors and unique shapes made just seems to draw my attention to this painting right away. 

2. Frantisek Kupka, Traits, Plans, Profondeur,  1920-1922. Oil on Canvas. 

This painting was one of my favorites at the gallery. I really loved all the different blues and hints of purple and purple. 
B). Which artwork do I feel a connection with? Why?
1. Joan Mitchell, George Went Swimming at Barnes Hole, but it Got Too Cold, 1957. Oil on Canvas. 

I connected with this painting because I liked that  it was so unorganized but it still seemed to have a flow through it too. 

2. Lucas Samaras, Room No.2, 1966. Mirror on Wood.

I thought this was very different, and awesome. There is just so many different places to look and it was impossible for me to take in the thing as whole which was different too. 
C.) Which artworks would I like to know more about? Why?
1. Robert Rauschenberg, Ace, 1962. Oil, Cardboard, Wood, and Metal on Canvas. 

I would like to know what brought Rauchenberg use so many different materials. 

2. Jean Metzinger, Dancer in a Cafe, 1912.

 I just found this to be very cool and would love to know more about it. I found something new every time I looked at it.

Module 5 Logo Design

1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo.
When it came to creating a personal logo I started to think that was most important to me, or what was my personality like. I concluded that personally I am a very simple person. I knew I did not want to create a very detailed logo. I also decided that my family was most important to me. 

2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas you used in the logo creation.
When I decided that I wanted a simple logo the first thing that came to mind was using my initials would work. Then to include the aspect of my family at first I decided to use a triangle, because I am a triplet and that is a huge part of who I am. However, when I tried designing my logo I couldn't get it the way I wanted it. It was simple and related to me, but I just didn't like it. I realized that I wanted my logo to be more fun and different, seeing as I am usually a happy and energetic person. So finally I decided to still use the K from my name but add the heartbeat and hearts instead of a triangle. I chose 6 beats one for each of my family, and I decided on the heartbeats because being a live is one of the things I am most grateful for. I than added pink just to add some color and brighten the whole thing. 

3. What was the most important discovery you made in the creation of your logo?
The most important thing I discovered was how particular I am about certain things, and that it actually takes a lot of time and planning coming up with even the simplest logo. 

4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos, power point, and reading material  for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
The most important thing I learned is that even the littlest detail probably has a very important meaning and purpose. 

Module 4 Blog Questions

1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel.
When I was creating the value scale it was a little more different than I thought it was going to be. I either didn't make a part light or dark enough and would have to go back and change some things over and over. While making the color wheel it was a little more fun to create. Creating all the different shades didn't seem to be that hard. 

2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why?
I like working with the paints more because if I was having trouble with the color it was easier to add more of another color than it was for me to continuously have to go back and fix things with the pencil. 

3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies?
I think the most important thing i noticed while creating both the value scale and color wheel was that the smallest mistake could make a big difference. 

4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?

I think that one of the most important facts came out of the color video. When they were talking about red and blue being to dark to be considered primary and that the three colors making brown showed this imbalance. 

Module 3 Blog Questions (Reposted)

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting.

Emotional responses to color are both culturally conditioned and intensely personal. Cool colors are generally have calming effects. Blue is also linked to feelings of sadness and freedom. While a color like red might be used to express anger or aggression. 

2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?

I feel like the most intriguing theoretical aspect of color is color harmonies, because the use of different colors can completely change the feeling and outcome of a piece of art work. 

3. In the Color video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions?

I feel like the biggest impact on me in regards to color how the littlest change in shade in a piece can change it as a whole entirely. I think that it is really interesting how the artist relies so much on color to express what they are trying to say through their art. 

4. In the Feelings video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions? 

I feel like my answer for questions 1&3 also goes along with question.

I could not figure out how to embed my pictures to my blog. It was a lot easier to create photos for some of these elements and principles than for others. Some of them took a lot more effect to think about and get a grasp on what the concept was. Other than that it was pretty fun taking all the different pictures.
